I am currently sitting amidst a group of over 700 screaming migrant advocates at the Reform Immigration for America Summit. I came here with the Student Immigrant Movement, and will be working with America's Voice to help mobilize people to push back against hate online. I believe it is important to state my organizational affiliations for the sake of honesty, but anyone who knows my blogging knows that I write unfiltered.

It is official. According to the St. Petersburg Times, the DREAM Act will be reintroduced this week by Sen. Richard Durbin and Sen. Richard Lugar:
The movement's moment could arrive as early as Tuesday when Durbin
reintroduces the bill with co-sponsor Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind.
Dreamactivist.org is also beginning to sound the war drums through their change.org blog. Thousands have already been invited to call-in in support of the DREAM Act through facebook. The DREAM Act will be the first major migration policy battle of the 111th Congress and the Obama administration.
As such, I thought it would be good to step back and reflect a little bit on the politics of the DREAM Act. I've already written a post advancing a comprehensive argument for passing the DREAM Act during these trying economic times. It was published on Alternet this morning. Today, I thought I'd reflect a little bit on the political climate the DREAM Act faces.

Surprise. Surprise.
Mark Krikorian found Obama's answers to our questionnaire on The Sanctuary.
Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Same-Sex Couples [Mark Krikorian]
Obama's answers to a questionnaire on immigration
from a hard-left group are mostly unremarkable - he backs the procedure
supporters call "comprehensive immigration reform," does not
necessarily oppose raids and detention of illegals so long as they're
done humanely, etc. (h/t Jennifer McFadyen)
But one thing that I suppose I should have known but didn't is that he
supports the "Uniting American Families Act," which would extend
spousal immigration rights to same-sex couples. So now McCain has two
extreme Obama positions on immigration to attack: driver's licenses for
illegals and immigration for gay couples. Will McCain ever use them to
criticize Obama? No - he'll just keep criticizing Obama for being too weak in support of amnesty.
For a little history on Mark Krikorian, he came to Boston University some time ago with Lou Barletta where he was beaten badly in a debate about U.S. migration policy.

Nativists beware! At this moment, migrant bloggers from across the nation are invading the Democrat National Convention in Denver, Colorado.
They bring crime and disease with them. Thinking freely is their crime, and they are spreading the infectious diseases of truth and justice. These migrants are taking jobs and traffic away from other bloggers. They are parasites taking advantage of free services like wireless internet connections. They should all be locked up in Denver's, "Gitmo on the Platte" and deported back to their home states.
Oh man, I could keep this parody of nativist speak going, but it wouldn't do justice to what my esteemed blogmigos are in the midst of accomplishing.
Liza Sabater, of Culture Kitchen, has been able to put a remarkable team of bloggers together to cover the DNC through her connections with Kenneth Cole's Awearness Blog. Kai Chang of Zuky and Nezua of The Unapologetic Mexican are part of the team. Maegan La Mala of Vivir Latino, and Kety Esquivel of Cross Left, will also be making apperances.
I would be remiss if I didn't mentioned that my esteemeed and respected friend, XP of Para Justicia Y Libertad, was able to find his way to Denver through his connections with Scholars and Rogues.
If these names seem familiar to you, look no further than The Sanctuary's Who We Are page to refresh your memory. The Sanctuarysphere has invaded the Democrat National Convention.

The Sanctuary is an organic garden of sanity, justice and compassion. In this garden the flowers are blooming, the bees are buzzing and the fruits of hard work are being realized. Thanks to all the farmers here pushing for truth and justice. Score One for the Latinosphere at Para Justicia y Libertad on the article in the Wall Street Journal about efforts to wake up the candidates. Shackled Like An Animal During Labor at Latino Politico. Nine months pregnant and in labor, she was shackled until two hours prior to the birth of her child and then re-shackled afterwards. Following the birth of the baby, authorities denied her the ability to breast feed the newborn, who was at a high risk of jaundice as a result of it.
